At the heart of 2GR Premium Wagyu Beef is a rich agricultural heritage, rooted in the pioneering spirit of Hancock Prospecting—a world-class agribusiness with deep ties to the land on both sides of Executive Chairman Gina Rinehart’s family.
Long before the company’s success in mining, the Hancock family was shaping Australia’s pastoral landscape, owning and operating iconic cattle stations across Western Australia, including Ashburton Downs and Hamersley Station, where Mrs. Rinehart herself spent her early years.
Today, that legacy lives on through one of the largest Wagyu herds in Australia—over 12,000 head of cattle, bred and raised with exceptional care across Hancock Agriculture’s pristine farms.
The inspiration for the 2GR brand dates back over a century to the late 1800s. Mrs. Rinehart’s great-grandfather, who had three sons—George, John, and Richard—created the original H3B cattle and sheep brand: Hancock 3 Brothers.
In a modern tribute, the 2GR name reflects the initials of Gina and her daughter Ginia Rinehart, symbolising both a proud legacy and a continuing commitment to excellence.

At 18–24 months of age, the cattle are finished for a minimum of 200 days in a Northern New South Wales feeding hub, ensuring a carefully formulated grain diet.
